Evil has been ruling this nation and the nations of the world for far too long, deep within the secrect bowels of governments and the powerful. God has exposed it in order for us to see it and fight against it, no matter the cost.

Hey guys —
Open your feeds this morning and it feels like the mountains really are trembling.
Iran’s military says the U.S. may be preparing to resume strikes. Trump says he’s in “deciding mode.” Oil is hanging near triple digits. The Strait of Hormuz — that narrow choke point the whole energy world watches — is still disrupted. Ukraine hit Moscow with what authorities called its largest-ever drone attack. Russia’s parliamentary elections locked in more of the same. And here at home, a lot of households are telling the same story: prices still bite, debt feels heavier, midterms are getting louder, and the anxiety machine never clocks out.
I’m not telling you that to scare you. I’m telling you that because Psalm 46 was written for people who could feel the ground move under their feet.
This psalm isn’t soft Christian wallpaper. It’s a wartime worship song. Israel knew what it was like when empires flexed, when cities shook, when “the nations rage” wasn’t a metaphor — it was the news. And right in the middle of that, the Spirit gives them a line Western Christianity desperately needs again:
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.
Not “therefore pretend nothing’s happening.” Not “therefore panic-buy prophecy charts.” Therefore we will not fear.
Here’s the historical frame that matters. The God of Jacob — the covenant God who made grant promises to Abraham, who established David’s throne, who brought the New Covenant through Jesus — does not lose His grip when headlines get loud. Psalm 46 doesn’t deny roaring waters. It refuses to let roaring waters become your theology.
And that matters for how we read the Bible in our own century too. A lot of Western end-times teaching trained people to treat every war and rumor of war like a countdown clock to collapse. Jesus Himself told first-century disciples they would hear of wars and rumors of wars — and then He said, see that you are not alarmed (Matthew 24:6). Those “last days” transition years climaxed in the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70, when the old covenant system was removed and the church stepped fully into the New. History validates that. Fearmongering does not.
There is still a last day coming — Jesus returns, judgment is real, evil is finally dealt with. But the trajectory after the cross and after AD 70 is not “steal hope for a better future on earth.” It’s Jesus making things new. God never changed. Covenants changed. And the New Covenant is a grant covenant — God takes responsibility on Himself. There’s nothing you can do this Monday morning to break what Father and Son sealed for you.
So when oil prices hit the gas pump, when war talk spikes before the U.N. gathering, when polls and culture wars try to own your nervous system — Psalm 46 gives you a better posture than doomscrolling:
Be still, and know that I am God.
Be still doesn’t mean go passive. It means stop letting the nations’ rage set the temperature of your soul. The Lord of hosts is with us. Christus Victor already stripped the enemy’s claim at the cross. Authority is restored. You’re not orphaned in a collapsing story — you’re a New Covenant son or daughter partnering with a King whose kingdom cannot be shaken.

Walk it out today. Pray for leaders. Care for your household. Speak truth without selling fear. Love people like Jesus loves people. Refuse the grifter prophets who need panic to stay relevant. The God of Jacob is still a fortress when the earth feels like it’s giving way.

Father, in a week of wars, rumors, prices, and noise, we take refuge in You. Still our hearts. Exalt Your name among the nations. Help us walk as New Covenant people — hopeful, awake, and free from fear. In Jesus’ name, amen."

Today is a day for hope because God is attacking evil. It's not Trump. He is just a tool that God has placed to help with His task. But it's up to all of us to be willing to be used in that fight. The fight has been and always is against evil. The deception is, as Ace points out, the fight is everything else as a distraction. God is about winning, about life, defeating sin and eternal death. We look at the temperal. God looks at the eternal.
If for nothing else HE has heard the cry of the children! HE has declared war on those who are destroying our children and He is going to destroy them.
