Cut and paste from Wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt, but...
I probably come across as a broken record when I talk about the importance of energy to the wealth of nations and influence. We don't have Solar Powered B-52s.
So, when looking up pipeline construction for dates projects started, Trump seems to be trying to take credit like it was his "spur of the moment" idea, I kind of stupefied on these thoughts: I look at the map of the Leviathan gas field, think it looks like Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon are in Israel's way and Turkey seems to be bitching about it. I don't know about you, but I thought the discovery of Natural Gas off the coast of Palestine was a recent discovery, turns out they were already planing a pipeline before the discovery even hit the news.
Just odd how war breaks out every place that wants a cut of the action, are in the way, or bitch about not getting in on it. As usual I have no idea how this is going to play out. It is a Newton's three body type problem. I know if I was Turkey I'd watch what I say. The original pipeline was going through Romania and had been negotiated by HRC campaign manager, John Podesta. Yeah the .PDF and Pizza guy. Probably took until 2022 before the USA could renegotiate their cut after the Nord Stream and Ukraine disasters.
"On 2 January 2020, the EastMed Pipeline accord was signed in Athens by the leaders of Greece, Cyprus, and Israel.[3][4][6] On 19 July 2020, the Israeli government officially approved the accord, allowing the signatory countries to move forward with plans to complete the pipeline by 2025.[5]
However, following the withdrawal of support from the United States in January 2022, and continued objections by Turkey, it is likely that the pipeline may be rerouted through Egypt to bypass Cyprus, or cancelled altogether."
