The thin line between justice and vengeance
Just to explain the rabbit hole and how I got to this video:
Listening to Tish Hyman on Adam Carolla. Adam mentions an illegal alien who murdered a Hollywood actress/screenwriter. Then goes on to mention that the convicted criminal gave something of a TEDTalk from prison.
I got curious and listened to the TED talk.
One thing that struck me is the pathological victimhood of the man who killed the woman.
He was only convicted of manslaughter somehow.
He merely glosses over his murder, when he was 18 years old, and focuses on himself as the perpetual victim/example of someone who can turn their lives around in prison after a brutal crime.
The speech did not sit well with me.
Him talking about how sad he was when he left his parents from Ecuador to come to America illegally.
How he hopes he can see his parents again.
In the face of him brutally murdering an innocent woman, depriving her family of ever seeing her again.
I’m curious as to how he only got convicted with manslaughter. 25 years does not feel ...
