I started listening to Sapiens, by Yuval Noah Harari. It's kind of difficult getting over my disdain for the author - he's the guy you see at WEF talks, explaining transhumanism and how he effectively wants to play God.
But it's probably a good thing to know what the enemy thinks.
I'm a fair bit into the audio book. It's read in a British accent, so at least I don't have to listen to Yuval's voice.
Got to an interesting section where he was discussing the brain size of hunter-gatherer man. That is was larger than today's man. That at the individual level, the hunter-gatherer had knowledge and expertise that today's man lacks. That survival of today's man is greatly enhanced, but not because of individual skill or acumen, but because of collective knowledge and systems.
It made me realize that we are indeed "evolving" ourselves into extinction. Into Idiocracy. Into subservience and total dependence on what will be the broader Artificial Generalized Intelligence. We are individually evolving out of our capacity not only to survive, but to think for ourselves.
Soon enough (by cosmic standards), we will evolve back into chimps, intellectually and behaviorally. Chimps with the benefit of the technology of our forefathers.
Rice patty to rice patty in 3 generations, except over the cosmic scale of human evolution.
We will become dumbed down chimps, with all the associated behavioral disorders, with access to weapons and technology we did not create.
Like the son spending the grandfather's wealth, leaving the grandchild to beg.
This is how it goes down on the cosmic evolutionary scale at current trends.
And you can understand why Yuval aspires to be the new false-god among dumbed down mortals.
My back still hurts (though it is better). But I'm still not sure if my back pain is causing the cosmic pessimism, or if the cosmic pessimism is making my back pain worse. lol
Peace.
Didn't proof read. Kids are at school and homeschool kid at tutor, so it's Viva & Marion Date Morning.
