Some morning thoughts

Benny Johnson set up a GiveSendGo for Holly, the woman who was beaten unconscious in Cincinnati. link below. If you can support, consider giving. Otherwise, consider sharing…

on Twitter, I saw that Charlie Sheen had given $1000. he made a joke about how he played a baseball player for the Cincinnati Indians… Funny enough, we just watched Major league.

Some jackass in the replies commented how he could’ve dug a little deeper in his pockets, having only given $1000. Just out of curiosity, I went to look up Charlie’s net worth. Though I suspect it’s way more, it’s now listed at $3 million. Down from its high at $150 million when he was on 2 1/2 men.

I was pretty shocked, though it did lead to this morning deep thought.

In bad times, we struggle to get by. in good times, we worry about losing what we have. you want to help as much as you can. There is always the nagging fear of squirreling as much away as possible, just in case. there is the constant pressure of making sure you have enough to provide for your family.

And then there is the fear of losing what you have.

And my deep thought was that when it comes to tangible assets, it’s not a question of if we lose what we have. We will inevitably and invariably lose what we have, if only because we can’t take it with us. so the fear of losing it on this earth, the unavoidable reality needs to be put in the perspective: We are not taking it with us, regardless, so we lose it at some point one way or the other.
it may not alleviate the unavoidable stress of existence, finances, bills… but it does put it into perspective in terms of the worst case scenario:

We’re going to lose all of our worldly belongings, one way or the other, sooner or later. 😂Just a question of what we do with it while we have it.

And understanding that all that we take with us is what we leave behind. mind blown

See you all this afternoon!

I did a quick hit on Richard Syrette yesterday. Gotta keep Canadians apprised of the U.S. madness.

I’m not sure if this is a question for an attorney or a therapist but here goes: I have a close relative who’s a minority shareholder in a family business that another relative owns. The majority owner has agreed to buy out the other shareholder. I’ve advised the minority shareholder to do everything through an attorney, and the one she’s hired has said he thinks the initial offer is too low (so low that he doesn’t want to be involved in approving it for his own reputation), and the majority owner appears to want the other party to simply “rubber stamp” the offer (in which case there’s not really a reason to use a lawyer, anyway). The majority owner occasionally asks the other owner to sign things in person before her lawyer has had a chance to look at it. She’s a bit afraid to say “no,” or even “I’m only talking about this through my lawyer,” for the sake of family unity; she doesn’t believe it’s possible to separate the business from other family ...

I.   INTRODUCTION

A. Art of the Day

Conversations in the café, the coffee house, or the local diner. A great way to spend any afternoon, often engaged in dialogue, discussion or debate over any range of subjects, as the course of the conversation only constricted by the imagination and intelligence of its conversant compatriots, a deeply human exploration and expression of understanding the world as is and as it can be.

B. Wisdom of the Day

“We need to trim the fat between their brains as much as around their waistline.” Colonel Macgregor on needed military reforms.

C. Cultural Recommendation

The Sandbaggers. Uncloaking the nature of cover operations. Recommended by a board member. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077078/

I. INTRODUCTION

A. Art of the Day

Venezia. The city of seduction and romance, of masked balls and cinematic backdrops, where quiet back-alley restaurants and boutique shops await for you to uncover and discover, as the magic of this modern-day Atlantis invites at every turn. Arrive at the airport to an awaiting long wooden boat across the water to the city dancing with the sea, and dance amidst the history and beauty of ancient Cathedrals, in handmade shoes from the world’s greatest shoemakers. My favorite city to visit.

B. Wisdom of the Day

“War does not determine who is right – only who is left.” Bertrand Russell.

A. Art of the Day

Banksy’s brilliance, the pseudonymous muralist of public walls worldwide,  masterfully expresses the opposition to war, with the simplest of images: a little girl holding a bomb, and demanding NO.

B. Wisdom of the Day

Foreign war is nothing more than "the blood of many being shed to enrich a few.” William Jennings Bryan.
