Religious Exemption Request Exemplar

What I would write:

"Taking this vaccine violates my conscience for at least three reasons: first, the use of aborted fetuses in either the development or production of these vaccines, or both, when my religious beliefs require that I respect all human life, including fetal life, and not knowingly profit from harm to fetal life; second, the invasion of my body with foreign toxins when my religious beliefs require I treat my body as a temple, and not so knowingly desecrate it; and third, the coercion against informed consent of this vaccine when my religious beliefs require all medical treatment be conditioned upon informed consent. This is a matter of life and death, the very purpose for which I live my life, respect for all human beings and all human life in the world, a core matter of right and wrong, and essential to my very being. I cannot violate my conscience on such a core matter of my morals and the beliefs that guide me and govern me, formed by religious beliefs and as instructed by my religious tenets. I have never knowingly taken any vaccine, or any medicine, developed or produced with aborted fetal cells, that invaded my body with foreign toxins, or that were compelled against informed consent. The violation of informed consent is a matter of religious conscience; what the Nazi doctors did is morally wrong, spiritually offensive, and participating or partaking in such invasive, coerced medicine at any time offends the very core of my conscience. I cannot consciously disrespect human life, and the core of what makes us human and the dignity it requires we treat ourselves and our fellow human beings, even if it might medically or financially profit me to do so. Some things are not for sale; my conscience, formed by the core of religious tenets, is one of them."

Bricks and minifigs

from BAD to WORSE!

This is the body cam footage of the Utah police talking to the former franchisee about the Bricks and Minifigs (BAM) Reckless Ben situation.

The man puts the CEO of BAM, Ammon McNeff, on the phone. McNeff says a number of interesting things:

1) He ADMITS that the family is owed the money, but denies that he or the new franchisee owe it.

I reserve the right to be mistaken, but my understanding of franchise law is that although the franchisor is typically NOT liable for the debts of the franchisee, there are circumstances under which they can be - e.g. if they exercise sufficient control over the franchisee, such that the franchisee can be considered an “agent” under the law.

Given the degree of involvement the CEO is displaying with the new franchisee (the guy holding the phone), that argument might be made.

2) He ADMITS the money is owed, but claims that Ben (Reckless Ben) has no interest in it.

This too is not necessarily true if the owner of the Legos assigned his claim to Ben. ...

I. THE INTRODUCTION

A. Art of the Day
  • The colorful, blurry, swimming-in-the-mind sense of a jazz cafe, balanced blissfully against the cacophony of conversation in the drum beat of the street surrounding, the blending of indoors and outdoors, the real and the surreal, the deeply honest and flagrantly fake, the warm cafe amidst the cold streets, with hope still stirring amidst.

B. Wisdom of the Day
  •  "Avoid the necessity of those overgrown military establishments, which, under any form of government, are inauspicious to liberty, and which are to be regarded as particularly hostile to Republican Liberty.” George Washington.

The Barnes Brief, Weekend of May 29, 2026

BRIEF

I. THE INTRODUCTION

A. Art of the Day
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill, by early American artist John Trumbull, a battle the British managed to lose while winning. By holding off the British as long as they did, the Americans seized the narrative and strategic victory. Legend grew of a young farmer turned Colonel of the Minute Men, promising to hold the Hill or periosh trying for at least one more night, with the famous phrase echoed: “Don’t Fire Boys Till You See the Whites of Their Eyes”, or at least legend would have it. I admit my fondness for the legend with its Sun Tsu style proverbial wisdom, but also for a more direct reason: Colonel Prescott was a great, great granddaddy of mine.

I. THE INTRODUCTION

A. Art of the Day

  • Another historic portrait of George Washington, evoking a time and place, as he prays in the snow by his horse in Valley Forge where fellow revolutionaries nearly starved or froze to death. More than a few fellow Barnes joined him there, including several direct ancestors. Amidst the difficulties of weather and war, Washington took the time to pray, a reminder of our own limitations and capabilities of courage to survive against the longest of odds.

B. Wisdom of the Day
  • "The nation which indulges toward another an habitual hatred or an habitual fondness is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest.” George Washington.
