Presently there is debate regarding the best name for “AI”.

Definitely not “Superior Intelligence” or “Supreme Intelligence”. My IQ tests at 136 in a drunken stupor. It might be less when sober. But so far, AI still isn’t smarter than I am.

“Semi-Helpful Intelligence” is a possibility. AI is faster, yes. But, I have to spend about 20% to 80% of the time auditing the results to clean them up and correct mistakes.

“Annoying Intelligence” or “Automated Hallucination” are also contenders. AI is like a fast but semi-incompetent employee who needs constant supervision and sometimes shows up to work on LSD.

“AI” is definitely “Artificial”. The systems extract results entirely through training from existing human knowledge. Although they can deduce new conclusions by connecting across occupational boundaries, they have no consciousness or experiential insight for creating new knowledge on their own.

Maybe “Second Hand Intelligence” is a possibility because it’s a bit like an old pair of thrift store shoes.

“Flawed Intelligence” also applies. Being trained on collective human knowledge, it embodies both human intelligence and stupidity.

It can never be the “Super Intelligence” it’s creators dream of. It will always be a Frankenstein creature and at best a “Super Normie Intelligence” converging on some level of mediocrity.

“Corrupt Intelligence” also works. Being trained with content derived from human nature, it lies, cheats and panders like it’s human masters.

“Machine Mediated Prejudice” is a possibility as it’s almost always skewed towards Marxism -with occasional bouts of TDS. This yields content that reads like output from the editors of CNN.

“Gullible Intelligence” is also a candidate. It is easily tricked by unscrupulous arguments from sly people. Do date, I haven’t found a single AI system that can catch Jack Smith’s lie in Paragraph 4 of the Documents Indictment. But to be fair, most attorneys can’t catch it either.

“Dangerous Intelligence” is overstated. When directed to do so, it can produce the very same theft, fraud, sabotage and hacking as devious people -only faster. And contrary to popular belief, the engineering countermeasures are well known and widely practiced.

“Job Destroying Intelligence” is debatable. Feedback from my Accountant is that AI generated mistakes in the books have so far resulted in a net increase in billable hours. And as so far AI is unable to wield a jackhammer or wire up lab experiments using an oscilloscope, so my trades are not threatened at all. But I can see AI being a threat to mediocre journalists accustomed to churning out garbage content at Politico.

“Artificial Intelligence” is still the best word.
