Saturday Morning

The day started off with two of my nightmare / pet peeves.

First the toilet overflowed. Like out of a movie, water all over the floor. I had to spend the next hour burning everything in the house. lol just kidding. But cleaned and thoroughly disinfected.

Then I had to clean the garage because the water delivery guy broker the big glass water cooler water thing, He said he cleaned it up, but no. He didn't. Chunks of glass. Particles of glass all over the garage. I had to throw the carpet out. Vacuum. Over and over again. Paper towels slightly moistened to pick up the really small pieces.

I say the only silver lining is that cleaning up great messes is an opportunity to make it even cleaner and more organized than it was before. And that I did.

In the other TMI side of things, I did a testosterone test, just for fun (also been feeling a little fatigued for the last... 10 years.

Levels totally normal. Bloodwork totally normal. Still weight 158 lbs. Got my appointment with the arm specialist next week, so we will see where that goes. So long as I can bowl, even if in pain.

Brandon Gill (the Texas Rep) posted a video a while back. From Jerusalem. I fact-checked it for context (it was from 2025, not yesterday or very recently).

I genuinely don't understand what's going on in the world. US representatives posting ally-ships with foreign nations. Not understanding the optics. If it were him in the Ukraine, taking a tour of a drone factory, people would be outraged.

And people getting outraged / irritated now are called antisemites.

Which only creates more antisemitic sentiment.

And then it becomes even more tribal. If they're coming "for us", now we need to band together even more. Tribalism. Groups within groups.

Seems loyalty should be to nation first. Especially a nation that lets you celebrate your individualism / group identity.

But there's a fracturing within the fracturing, all of which breaks down to identity groups within bigger groups.

Now I feel kind of bad for my response in which I tagged Gill, though it was a sincere question.

Anyhow, this too shall pass.

Listening to Rogan talk to a quantum physicist while jogging, and the iguanas scuttling into the bushes as I approach. I like to envision them the massive dinosaurs they once were. How wild the cosmos is, and yet we get bogged down in division that breaks down the human construct of nations.

And that ends the meandering stream of consciousness.

Going to try and do a vlawg today. And fish. And watch UFC tonight. With a steak and a nic dry martini.

I. THE INTRODUCTION

Special Notices

A. Art of the Day
  • The distilled Americana of Norman Rockwell celebrating that most American tradition — the Thanksgiving dinner. The cheery family, the fat turkey, the elegant table, the fresh fruits, the inviting vegetables (which I pronounced vetagables as a kid), dressed in Sunday best for a right and righteous feast celebrating America in that distinctly hopeful Rockwell expression.

B. Wisdom of the Day
  • “After the U.S. experience during the Great Depression, and after inflation and rising interest rates in the 1970s and disinflation and falling interest rates in the 1980s, I thought the fallacy of identifying tight money with high interest rates and easy money with low interest rates was dead. Apparently, old fallacies never die.” Milton Friedman.

I. THE INTRODUCTION

Special Notices

A. Art of the Day
  • My idea of a downstaris bar, the dancing globes, the circular bar, the mirrored backspace, the rectangular lanterns, the soft cloth seats, the steady backs, the gemoetric carpet, the quiet clock in the corner, inviting, beckoning, welcoming to a night of conversation over cocktails, a return to the roaring 20s, flapper girls in cocktail dresses and men in vests and top hats, a real-life bourbon with Barnes from yesteryear.

B. Wisdom of the Day

  • A board recommended photo capturing old leather worn books, well used as books should be, inviting us into their learned uncovering of the world, be it the fantasies of fiction or the histories of narrative, the discoveries of science or the truths of the spirit, uncovering in the words on parchment ourselves and the world about us, using the faculties of reason and the blessings of language to discover in the archives of the world a better understanding of ourselves.
