Persecution of Pennsylvania's Amish, with Tracy Thurman

Tracy Thurman is an investigative writer, strategist, and co-host of Radically Genuine.

She first came to national attention through her work defending Amish farmer Amos Miller in his battle with federal and state authorities over food freedom. Tracy later led the public advocacy campaign for Bitcoin pioneer Roger Ver, working closely with Roger and his legal team to build international awareness and political support around his prosecution. In 2025, following an agreement with the Department of Justice, the federal indictment against Roger was dismissed.

She has spent years working closely with Amish communities and has been involved in multiple cases involving government actions against Amish farmers and families, giving her a rare firsthand perspective on the culture and the challenges these communities face.

Tracy is also an investigative writer for the Brownstone Institute, where her work focuses on the Amish, food sovereignty, medical freedom, institutional power, and individual liberty.

Week one of life

Despite the failed hatch yesterday, our two chicks are growing beautifully.

We also went back to the farm today and got eight more likely fertilized silky chicken eggs. We’re going to document this one from beginning to end!

“The Red Decade” Revisited

During the 1930s Great Depression, the Communist Party of the United States (CPUSA) strategically expanded its influence over American literary, cinematic, and labor institutions. This period, termed “The Red Decade” by contemporary critics like Eugene Lyons, was characterized by an unprecedented alignment of writers, filmmakers, and labor organizers with Marxist ideologies

Key Literary and Cultural Figures

The CPUSA sought to shape American literature through its promotion of “proletarian literature”—art and fiction designed to highlight class struggle and critique capitalism.

V. J. Jerome (Victor Jeremy Jerome): Serving as the chairman of the CPUSA’s Cultural Commission, Jerome was the chief intellectual enforcer of party orthodoxy in arts and letters. As the long-time editor of the theoretical journal The Communist (Political Affairs), he regulated Marxist literary criticism and issued directives on how writers and filmmakers should align their work with Soviet policy.

A. Art of the Day

Another artistic expression of my own self-impression, the contemplative thought of looking out into the world through the oversized window amidst the shadows of dark and light, in between them both, uncovering and discovering along the way, a singular, solo figure in the space empty of objects but full of opportunities, sparse in materials but rich in ideas, waiting to be realized.

A. Art of the Day

The mirrored reflection creating a paralleled world above and below, the fearsome crocodile coasting in the waterways made from centuries ago, a reminder of the power of the past and the potential of the present in the majestic ancient animal of our past and potential.

B. Wisdom of the Day

“Animal communication is like any other form of telepathic, intuitive conversation. The thoughts and feelings of people and animals carry energetic signatures, communicated through very primal, nonverbal channels.” Elizabeth Eiler.
