It seems Floyd Mayweather could’ve learned the best lesson from fight club: sometimes the things you own end up owning you.
Floyd seems to be in big trouble for bouncing a check when paying for a $200,000 watch.
At first, my inclination was to think it’s ridiculous to charge him with a felony for bouncing a check. I presumed it was an accident.
But it seems he has had substantial money issues, which is astonishing.
He bought a $200,000 watch, paid by check, which bounced.
And then ghosted the store, that spent a year trying to get paid, and finally had to press criminal charges.
What’s amazing is that the propensity to live beyond one’s means is not alleviated with massive wealth.
People who are prone to living beyond their means will do so whether it’s on a salary of $100,000, or $100 million.
It seems astonishing to me that Floyd could ever have money issues given the wealth he has generated. But once you start throwing private jets into the mix, things happen slowly… Then all at once.
Moral of the story? Keep a lowoverhead, even in good times.
