This is just a guess, and honestly, I don’t particularly like the scenario. But I think it’s plausible.
Trump has been playing a very high-stakes game with Iran, Cuba, the Monroe Doctrine, and the broader Western Hemisphere. My suspicion is that some of it hasn’t gone as smoothly as he hoped. The costs have been higher, the resistance tougher, and the timeline longer than expected.
At the same time, the Greenland deal is a pretty significant development.
So here’s my guess: I think there may be an effort underway to get some kind of semi-concrete ceasefire with Iran in place before the midterms.
Why? Because voters have short memories. Politics is often about, “What have you done for me lately?”
If Trump can go into the midterms with an Iran ceasefire, the Strait reopened and shipping stabilized, and maybe even some kind of progress toward ending or freezing the war in Ukraine, the economic effects could become very visible very quickly.
If diesel prices come down, transportation ...

The only thing I can think of is that it is A bunch of trolls at the local level… It only takes a handful for a bar that probably has a handful of patrons.
