Talk about the cosmos talking to you...
Yesterday I was out getting a gift for Marion for Mother's Day and her birthday (they fall in the same week). I was at a store, and the people behind the counter asked if I liked the Grateful Dead (they were clearly hippies - turns out the woman went to Woodstock when she was 16. They had Dead Head stickers all over the store backdrop).
I said not really (didn't mention that I had previously tweeted "Does anyone actually like the Grateful Dead" lol and the discussion eventually shifted to Phish. The guys asked if I had seen a video of a girl singing a song on stage with Trey (the lead singer). Link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_KHGeByNjI
I knew the song sounded familiar and ended up listening to it that night while walking the dogs.
Listening to the lyrics, I thought I heard something philosophically / spiritually ambiguous (or blasphemous), so I go look up the lyrics.
"There've been times that I wonder
And times that I don't
Concepts I'll ponder
And concepts I won't ever see
God isn't one of these
Former or latter
Which did you think I meant?
It doesn't matter to me
Bug (don't need it)
It doesn't matter"
I couldn't figure out if the lyrics were meant to recognize or deny the existence of God. And I'm still not sure what Trey had in mind.
But as I am reading the lyrics on my phone, thumbs on the screen for scrolling, right as I am reading "Bug! It doesn't matter!" a demoiselle fly lands on the tip of my thumbs, blocking the lyrics. I mean literally, as I am trying to understand the meaning of the lyrics, and as I read "Bug!" in my own head, the demoiselle fly lands on my thumb blocking the lyrics. So I think I have an answer.
And then today, I get a text from a spiritual confidant (as I have humorously dubber this person) and it's a picture of an letter-to-the-editor type thing, saying that (paraphrasing and condensing) you can't live in the country - God's playground - and pontificate over the existence of God. What more evidence could you ask for that everything there is around you.
What made the timing of this text so cosmic is that I had just gotten back (and I mean literally) from a mission of corralling a duck and her 12 chicks out of our backyard, through the neighbors yards, down the street, back into the pond.
I'll clip the video and post.
It was absolutely beautiful. Though the neighborhood kids (and some adults) don't appreciate how easy it is to scare the mother and chicks into harms way - cars, backyards with dogs, etc.
So yeah, two cosmic coincidences in 24 hours.
Going to take the dogs to the park and hope for the trifecta.
Godspeed. See you all tonight.
