Going to have this discussion here because it's pointless on X. A combination of toxicity, tribalism and bots has made the platform virtually unuseable.

Trump announces the strait is open.

The usual suspects rejoince.

And I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

The Strait is opened. Allegedly.

The response is that the Strait was open before the war.

The response to that is that Iran had a navy, ballistic missiles, air-force before the war that has since been wiped out.

Even assuming that's true, that was not the basis for the war.

Iran still has its enriched uranium.

So the Strait is back to where it was before the war, countless dead in Iran and American casualties, gas prices are up and will remain high for a while, Iran still has its enriched uranium (one of the pretexts for the war), the "Regime" has not been changed, and the Iranian people have not revolted nor have they been "freed". Also one of the pretexts for the war (which we were told was not a war).

And the political fallout that will likely cost Republicans the midterms.

And if you dare voice any of these questions / concerns, you are demonized, denigrated, and attacked by a mob of internet anons.

Am I missing something?

This morning Europe was talking about bypassing the blockade, which was a direct swipe at Trump.

Not that anyone should care what Europe thinks, says or does. But that might have been a nudge, an impetus for Trump to solve the U.S. imposed blockade, lest they look like the problem at the global level.

So we are back to square one.

Billions of dollars later.

American servicemen lives later.

Apparently Iran will give up its nuclear dust, but hasn't yet.

The Iranian people have not been freed.

The Regime has not been replaced.

Gas prices are up, even if the futures market dropped on the news.

Midterms are at risk, if not cooked.

Am I missing something?
