Good Morning from San Salvador
Wassup Locals!
Woke up in San Salvador. Had dinner last night with the team. Some salty brisket, sausage and picanya. Above average, but not enough veggies. lol
Asked the restaurant owner about Bukele. He said feelings are mixed - everyone is appreciative of the safety he has brought, but others concerned / upset at innocents who got locked up. He told us the story of an employee whose son was rounded up and whisked off, she has no idea where he is.
Without getting into the merits of whether or not her son is actually guilty of something, the reality is that innocent people are invariably going to get caught up somewhere. Either as victims of crime, or wrongly detained. Just that in a free society, the tendency is to think that you'll let 10 guilty men go free so as not to lock up one innocent man.
But then many other innocent people get victimized because you chose to let 10 guilty men go free to save the one innocent man from wrongful incarceration.
There are no right answers. Only tradeoffs. Thomas Sowell. And the fact that this guy had a beautiful restaurant open at night, free of crime and gang members... He certainly is benefitting from the tradeoff.
Was going to go for a jog on the street but decided against. Even in New York City, one bad block that you don't know to avoid is all it takes.
Getting ready to head over to the conference. I'm interviewing a guy named Erick Brimen who wants to run / implement private charter cities in developing countries.
Kind of sounds like 15 minutes cities on steroids. Should be a fun talk. Then tomorrow is packed.
Then back home.
I hate traveling. But love experiences. And love coming home more.
It is an honor that they continue to invite me to these events. How quickly the luxury of travel inconvenience can turn into "why aren't then inviting me anymore?" lol
Will send pics. Not sure about stream schedule but I will definitely get a Locals exclusive stream in at some point today.
Peace.
