Viva daily thoughts 2: modern day Reichstag Fire
I just watched this video about someone’s experience as a Jan 6 defendant. Give it a watch if you have 14 minutes before reading on.

We lived through Jan 6 together as a Locals community. I remember streaming with Robert the day of. Fortunately for both of us, I was in Montreal, and he was not at the Capitol building. Had either or both of us been there documenting, we surely would have been among the people persecuted for what is clearly the modern-day “Reichstag fire”.
And speaking of Reichstag fire… A lot of of us use the term understanding the broader meaning, but not really appreciating the finer details. Kind of like when we use the analogy of Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned.
The Reichstag fire was a false flag the Nazis invoked to implement emergency powers one month after Hitler was sworn in. it was used as a pretext to suspend civil liberties, and secure Hitler’s reign of power.
It was also blamed on a total patsie - a man who had a history of mental illness and was partially blind from an industrial accident. I asked Grok if it is true the suspect who was tried, convicted, and executed was “mentally retarded”, and Grok swiftly corrected the politically incorrect nature of my question, but specified he did indeed have serious mental issues.
Jan. 6 was the modern-day Reichstag fire. History doesn’t repeat, but it rhymes. Biden (or his admin / handlers) were the tyrants. Ashli Babbitt was similarly executed, then mischaracterized as the insurrectionist.
Rosanne Boyland was likely beaten/trampled to death, and they try to blame her death on a drug overdose.
Everyone who was duped/enticed/coerced into participating was persecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
And there are still willing executioners who to this day believe that it was a bona fide insurrection that justified the tyranny, government surveillance, and violation of civil liberties that ensued.
Watching Will’s video, the frustrating part is, we are approaching the point after which there will be no justice. There will be no justice because it doesn’t even seem like the current administration is hell-bent on punishing everyone involved in the Jan. 6 Reichstag fire.
But there will also be no justice simply because of the mere passage of time. Enough time passes, and justice becomes as illusory as a posthumous apology or canonizing of a martyr.
And then you try to tell the story to teach the next generation, because those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it. I did eventually becomes as distant a concept as the Reichstag fire itself. Nothing teaches history better than living through it.
Godspeed. On with the day!
