Update from Lugano

Daily update: I slept in until 11:22. I woke up and actually thought my phone was broken when I saw the time.

It’s not just that I slept in that late. I went to bed at 11 o’clock last night, so I slept over 12 hours. Which is a first. Not straight
of course, I still woke up four times. One of the times I woke up, I had no idea where I was. Couldn’t find the bathroom. And then couldn’t find my way back to the bed! Those blackout curtains are powerful.

It’s raining today. Another reason why I love Florida. Even when it rains in Florida, it’s typically still warm and fun to walk around in the rain. Here it’s relatively chilly, so when you get wet, it feels even worse.

Can’t see the mountains, so even though you’re surrounded by the beauty of nature, it just looks like a cloud.

Walked around with Matt Kohrs - he’s got a great financial channel on Rumble. We had a couple of long espresso. which are still shorter than a standard espresso in North America.

Had a club sandwich, which was the best I have ever tasted in my entire life.

It’s nice here. Nothing I could ever get used to. The wealth and opulence does not feel of this world. People driving Lamborghinis (which I find surprising, because they are not the small European vehicles I expected to see). People wearing glasses that cost more than most people’s monthly salary. Things being expensive for the sake of being expensive, serving as the “financial filter” to keep this area what it is.

The nature is beautiful, although I don’t think the vast majority of the people out here have any interest in it other than viewing it from a cafe. 😆

The attitude difference in the service industry is astonishing. Here, it’s almost as though you are lucky if you get service from waiters. Whereas in America, the pressure is totally inverted… If you don’t continually top off water, ask if everything is OK, you feel like you are neglecting your customer. I’m not sure which is better, though I would err on the side of service, though somewhere in the middle is the golden rule.

I am now also thoroughly convinced they only give Americans “Americano” Coffee because they are just trying to ruin an espresso for the Americans. 😂

It is definitely a different pace of life out here. Not sure if it is conditioning, or genetics, but it does not move anywhere near fast enough for me.

Getting ready to meet the Rumble team at 5 o’clock to go over event details. Hopefully we’ll get a stream on tonight. Hopefully we’ll get a vlawg out.

I just read another story of another foreign illegal driver having killed citizens through negligent driving.

Watching some of the same old fighting on X, but feeling a little detached from it. Kind of a good feeling.

End of meandering thoughts. Going to see if I can go for a jog or hit the treadmill.

Godspeed, and talk soon!

(dictated, and proofread very quickly :-)

Appearance on Richard Syrette

I did a quick hit on Richard Syrette yesterday. Gotta keep Canadians apprised of the U.S. madness.

Board Poll: Sunday Topics

Pick your top topic, if any, and add your own top topics, comment or question in the replies below as the producers' Show Notes for the Sunday Show. In the stupider side of the news…

I saw this story and couldn’t believe it.

“Georgia police are searching for a man who picked up $30 off a Walmart floor — and the law is on their side”

George authorities posted a picture of a man who allegedly picked up $30 he found on the ground in a Walmart.

George law requires someone who finds mislaid property to try and find the owner.

Not knowing the intricacies of Georgia law, there must be an exception for objects of minimal value. Unless you are supposed to trace down the owner of every nickel, dime and quarter you come across.

I imagine there must be an exception for petty loose cash specifically, given its fungibility. The case-law relating to “found cash” consisted of a bag of cash, with checks and deposit slips - hence identifying the owner of the cash would be easy.

This story is ridiculous.

Anarcho-tyranny.

...

Found this on X, 😆😆

  • A different time, a different era. The suit, the dresses, the top hats, the old clocks, the decorated ceilings, the hand-crafted bars, the art deco lights, the bartender in a tux, a trip back to where even the everyday was elegant, the ordinary was glamorous, and the commonplace was anything but.

A. Art of the Day
  • From a board member, the liveliness in this photograph, balancing and blending nature to the inner surroundings, the warm, thick, colorful carpet above stone floors, the brick-made walls below the wooden beam roof (reminding me of the old homes on the little island in the center of Paris), the broad windows embracing the light, the flowers percolating throughout, the spices along the shelves, the pillowed chair waiting, all so natural, so human, so inviting.

A. Art of the Day
  • Early morning hours in Venezia, the fog rolling over the canals, the gondalas slipping through the waterways encircling and interpersing the city, ancient buildings of the civilizations of old standing strong, Gothic walls weathering centuries of storms and war, the maze of bridges criss-crossing the inner walls of the city, beckoning us as the bakers begin their bread-making and the cafes start up their lattes, walking steps Marco Polo once crossed, a true gem of a city to awake to, like Atlantis risen from the sea.
