The Twitter gossip/drama of the day
I hadn’t heard about this, but apparently Ashley St. Clair had Elon Musk‘s baby.
And apparently congratulating her on the birth of her child was scandalous and “anti-Conservative”.
There was a pretty active campaign/movement of condemnation on Twitter that I felt compelled to share my two cents on.
This was my reply. https://x.com/thevivafrei/status/1890766655174942850?s=46

Didn't think I would wake up to this fight on X.
Publicly calling out / shaming a woman for having a baby out of wedlock - especially for those who purport to be pro-life! - is a very silly fight to be picking, and is exquisitely haughty.
Publicly calling out / shaming people for congratulating someone for having a baby - even if that baby is born out of wedlock - is also a very silly fight to be picking, and also equally haughty.
Not knowing the circumstances, what are these self-proclaimed "true Conservatives" suggesting? That the baby should have been aborted? Or that a "true Conservative" would never have placed their bodies in a position to have a baby out of wedlock?
It's interesting how in some cases, a single woman deciding to carry a baby to term is praiseworthy and representative of Conservative values, yet in other circumstances, it's shameful, hypocritical, and a source of self-aggrandizing critique...
Playing the "purity test" game for what it means to be a "true Conservative" is a losing proposition. Everyone, at some point in time, has transgressed the bounds of "Conservative" morality. Everyone. And if you think you haven't, that itself is a lie which transgresses "Conservative" morality.
Moreover, even if one were the holiest and most unassailably purest of "true Conservatives" and felt having a baby out of wedlock was a sin, they would still wish God to bless the woman and the child. Perhaps even more so than a baby born to two loving parents, for they might be the ones in greater need of God's blessing.
People who want to engage in this fight publicly will say "family values are fundamental and this is a worthy fight to be waging publicly". Horse crap. That, in my humble, is simply the human weakness of wanting to justify juvenile spats that could be easily avoided.
If you disagree with someone else's life choice that has absolutely ZERO impact on you, and you decide to turn it into a public shaming / harassment campaign, you might be the one who is not on the right side of "Conservative" values.
Pun intended.
