Ugly diving championship

There’s a Tennessee river sporting event all weekend in Chattanooga.

Yesterday, we caught the “ugly diving” competition.

I actually missed the best of the ugly dives. Here is one by wave example.

Heading to the aquarium. Ethan playing around on the rock climbing wall. Watching some wakeboarding.

This place is beautiful.

Appearance on Richard Syrette

I did a quick hit on Richard Syrette yesterday. Gotta keep Canadians apprised of the U.S. madness.

B. Art of the Day:  Pushkin’s desk in the center of his Victorian style library where he penned great works of Russian literature, and ever since seeing his library have wanted to recreate it myself some day as a place for inspired contemplation.

C. Wisdom of the Day: “Many agree that the worst thing that could ever happen is if Russia and China get closer.” Donald Trump.

D. Cultural Recommendation: The Apartment, an alternative view of history akin to the film Russian Arc, tracing history through a single place, the prism of an apartment in Moscow across a century of time. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43483939-the-apartment?

B. Art of the Day: Reminds me of the first Superman film, raised on the frontier by a Nebraska farmer. The blurry motif of the moon in the endless sky on the American frontier, with gold corn harvest bouncing off the moonlight, amidst simple homes, a classy pickup truck, on an old American hi way to someplace new in the night, the unfinished discovery of life.

C. Wisdom of the Day: “Each time you see a great segment or read exposés in the newspapers and magazines, chances are that they were made possible in part, if not in whole, by reporters using the FOIA.” Ralph Nader.

D. Cultural Recommendation: The National Security Agency’s FOIA Library. Always fun to snoop around now and then. https://www.nsa.gov/helpful-links/nsa-foia/declassification-transparency-initiatives/historical-releases/

B. Art of the Day: The fog snaking over the trees amidst the mountains that bookmark the canyons, as if traveling like a river to destinations unknown. Ansel Adams photographs celebrate the brilliant beauty and ceaseless mystery of the American landscape, best captured in their eternal black-and-white.

C. Wisdom of the Day: “Thirteen years after the end of the Soviet Union, the American press establishment seemed eager to turn Ukraine’s protested presidential election into a new Cold War with Russia.” Stephen Cohen, in 2001.

D. Cultural Recommendation: War with Russia? The recently deceased Stephen Cohen voiced a dissident view on Russia-US relations for decades. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42429312-war-with-russia-from-putin-ukraine-to-trump-russiagate?
