News on Dexter Taylor and a clip from the event this morning...

I heard from Dexter. He's is good spirits. Surprisingly good spirits in Rikers. Apparently he's got decent bunk mates. He's playing chess. Making the most of a terrible situation.

They are working on the appeal. Apparently he will have a hearing before the parole board (or whatever the administrative body that determines release pending appeal) within the months / a couple of weeks.

Time being stolen from his life like that scene in Interstellar when they were stuck on the planet where every hour there was 7 years on earth.

Stealing time. Stealing life. Turning a productive man into a burden on the state. It's depressing, but encouraging that Dexter is dealing with it as well as he is.

Did the Spartan Race this morning. It brings back memories. Hadn't done one in around 6 years. The terrain in Florida made it feel a little more like Boot Camp compared to the terrain up north, which gave it more of a scenic extreme hike feel.

Will put together the video, but wanted to share this highlight.

Going to go snort some gin to purify the sinuses! 😂

Godspeed everyone, enjoy the weekend.

Ugly diving championship

There’s a Tennessee river sporting event all weekend in Chattanooga.

Yesterday, we caught the “ugly diving” competition.

I actually missed the best of the ugly dives. Here is one by wave example.

Heading to the aquarium. Ethan playing around on the rock climbing wall. Watching some wakeboarding.

This place is beautiful.

Appearance on Richard Syrette

I did a quick hit on Richard Syrette yesterday. Gotta keep Canadians apprised of the U.S. madness.

Good luck getting the crazies to change. There is a lot of truth in the saying that "its easier to fool someone than to get them to admit that they have been fooled". If that is true; then they are in a heap of trouble.

The bad news of the day… Ostriches

The government got authorization to kill the ostriches.

Because of safety.

Despite the fact that they’ve been healthy for damn near a year.

The story is not yet over.

The ostriches have not yet been killed. Not sure what chapter of the story this is.

In a sane universe, this type of abuse would lead to the overthrow of a government.

B. Art of the Day:  Pushkin’s desk in the center of his Victorian style library where he penned great works of Russian literature, and ever since seeing his library have wanted to recreate it myself some day as a place for inspired contemplation.

C. Wisdom of the Day: “Many agree that the worst thing that could ever happen is if Russia and China get closer.” Donald Trump.

B. Art of the Day: Reminds me of the first Superman film, raised on the frontier by a Nebraska farmer. The blurry motif of the moon in the endless sky on the American frontier, with gold corn harvest bouncing off the moonlight, amidst simple homes, a classy pickup truck, on an old American hi way to someplace new in the night, the unfinished discovery of life.

C. Wisdom of the Day: “Each time you see a great segment or read exposés in the newspapers and magazines, chances are that they were made possible in part, if not in whole, by reporters using the FOIA.” Ralph Nader.

D. Cultural Recommendation: The National Security Agency’s FOIA Library. Always fun to snoop around now and then. https://www.nsa.gov/helpful-links/nsa-foia/declassification-transparency-initiatives/historical-releases/
