I noticed this picture above the piano. Decided to do a side-by-side.

What a difference 17 years makes! šŸ˜‚

I gave the talk…

I think it went well! I will share the video as soon as I can get it.

In the meantime, this was the ā€œmotivationalā€ self-pep video I recorded right before, but forgot to post! lol

Appearance on Richard Syrette

I did a quick hit on Richard Syrette yesterday. Gotta keep Canadians apprised of the U.S. madness.

Questions for Bourbon with Barnes: Wednesday, November 5, 2025

Ask in replies and answering Live at 9ish eastern tonight.

I am an engineer. I have worked mostly with men by choice for 10 years now. I prefer to work with men because they are easier to work with. There is no danger of passive aggressiveness contests. Every now and then, we will get a young woman in an administrative role that intrudes upon our atmosphere, and she turns it from "get the work done" to "passive aggressive misery." They normally don't last long in that position, of their own volition.

At law school, I sit and study in a place with natural light that is a thoroughfare for faculty for 3 hours and do homework. There are specific female faculty members that I see every week, and each time I see them, they are complaining in hushed tones. Some are grey haired women. A few weeks ago it was about how only people with their jobs don't have free speech. Today one of these women walked by and I just ignored them, but by the tone and whisper, she was complaining about something again. She walked by a second time, and she was gossiping ...

From a Republican leaning attorney in Virginia.

We Lost More Than an Election — Here’s What Comes Next
We lost all three statewide races. We lost 13 House seats. No Republican won outside deep-red districts.
This election wasn’t about who the better candidate was — it was about national trends that local campaigns couldn’t overcome.
So, what happens now?
When the General Assembly convenes in January, Democrats will have full control. Here’s what we can expect:
• Gun Control: Restrictions on semi-automatic rifles, bans on magazines holding more than 10 rounds, and limits on concealed carry reciprocity with other states.
• Right-to-Work: Expect attempts to abolish Virginia’s right-to-work protections, paving the way for mandatory union membership and higher local taxes through collective bargaining mandates.
• Taxes: New taxes on services like dry cleaning, handyman repairs, and digital services.
• Energy Costs: Re-entry into the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative ...

I.Ā Ā  INTRODUCTION

A. Art of the Day

  • As harvest ends, we commence the remembrance of death itself, recognizing its role in the cycle of life, as All Hallows Eve awaits the All Souls Day to follow. Our Celtic ancestors, and many contemporary Mexican celebrants with their Day of the Dead, see the sun set into winter’s moon, and the souls of those alive and past dance in the foggy merriment, with the light & the darkness competing for the souls of us all.

B. Wisdom of the Day

  • ā€œI have to study politics and war so that my sons can study mathematics, commerce, and agriculture, so their sons can study poetry, painting and music.ā€ John Quincy Adams.

A. Art of the Day

B. Wisdom of the Day

ā€œThere’s always one more thing you can do to influence any situation in your favor—and after that one more thing, and after that…. The more you do the more opportunities arise.ā€ Lieutenant General Harold Moore, born in the heart of Bourbon country and served in Vietnam.

C. Cultural Recommendation
