Appearance on Richard Syrette

I did a quick hit on Richard Syrette yesterday. Gotta keep Canadians apprised of the U.S. madness.

Declaration of Independence

We are running to catch train. The coffee time and morning picture will be later this morning or noon!

No happy ending for the chick

We did a methodical surgical manual shell opening of the chick that started pipping yesterday…

we gave it a full 24 hours, and there had been no movement for the last six.

Upon opening, the chick was no longer among the living.

It did not look fully developed. Hard to tell until the feathers dry off because the first two looked like total aliens immediately after they hatched.

But this one’s eyes did not look fully developed. It didn’t have very many feathers on it . Probably nothing we could have done even had we assisted cracking the egg immediately when we noticed pipping yesterday.

The only good news: some lizard or snake or resident opossum is going to get a midnight snack. We put the chick on the berm (where we put other dead fish), and I suspect it will be gone by morning.

It was an interesting experience. Totally incredible the process of life.

But alas, life is only for the fortunate.

. THE INTRODUCTION

Special Notices

A. Art of the Day
  • Another artistic expression of my own self-impression, the contemplative thought of looking out into the world through the oversized window amidst the shadows of dark and light, in between them both, uncovering and discovering along the way, a singular, solo figure in the space empty of objects but full of opportunities, sparse in materials but rich in ideas, waiting to be realized.

A. Art of the Day

I. THE INTRODUCTION

Special Notices

A. Art of the Day
  • The mirrored reflection creating a paralleled world above and below, the fearsome crocodile coasting in the waterways made from centuries ago, a reminder of the power of the past and the potential of the present in the majestic ancient animal of our past and potential.

B. Wisdom of the Day
  • “Animal communication is like any other form of telepathic, intuitive conversation. The thoughts and feelings of people and animals carry energetic signatures, communicated through very primal, nonverbal channels.” Elizabeth Eiler.
