James 1:2-4

"Have you ever wondered, Why would a loving heavenly Father allow His children to go through trials and sorrow? It can be baffling when the all-powerful God of love seems to stand by silently while painful things happen.

The Word of God is the place we can find an answer. Even so, today’s reading can be hard to understand or accept. One might read James’s exhortation to be joyful in the face of trials and think, Count me out! Difficulties and joy just don’t seem to go together—that is, unless we understand God’s perspective of what life is about.

In speaking about joy, James isn’t referring to a cheery, temporary feeling. Rather, he is talking about an inner sense of calmness, peace, and confidence in the Lord. He’s not telling us to feel happy about our trials but to know, as we go through them, that God is up to something good in our life. Our attitude during the struggle will determine what shape we’re in once we come out on the other side.

When our faith is tested, the end result is endurance; being aware of this gives us hope and strength. What’s more, the Bible promises God will use trials for our good (Romans 5:3-5), so there’s no need to be afraid or anxious."

Meanwhile, in Indiana…

This is WILD. I legit thought it was a skit/high school video project.

It is 100% real.

This is Jaime West (Democratic Party) - she’s running for election for Fayette County Council, District 4 in Indiana.

I had to make sure she did not have a neurological disorder that could account for the slurred speech and insane rambling.

She doesn’t.

And even if she did have a diagnosed neurological disorder, “we have guns too!” after talking about firing all Republicans would ordinarily be disqualifying.

Major the Malinois

I spoke with someone at Austin Animal Services today.

They did not have any news on the status of Major the Belgian Malinois. From what they told me, the city of Austin was going to euthanize Major in the absence of a court order enjoining them from doing so.

I have since been told that something of a mutual agreement had been reached giving another two weeks grace. I cannot confirm that, however.

For those who don’t know, Major is a Belgian Malinois who has been kept in isolation for over 500 days because the dog bit someone after it was struck by a vehicle.

The owner, who was homeless at the time, tied the injured dog to a porch while he went to get help. In the interim, some good Samaritans tried to help the dog, but the dog bit one of the good Samaritans causing relatively substantial damage to the arm.

Worth noting, the good Samaritan wanted nothing to do with the euthanizing of the dog.

The dog was his service animal.

The owner has been fighting the order to euthanize the dog. The dog has been in ...

Out for a ride with the Mrs. and kid… Came across this piece of poop. My guess is bobcat and rabbit remain.

Who says what?
